The Associate Artistic Director acts as a creative partner and organizational bridge, helping shape the artistic vision while ensuring productions and educational programming run smoothly. This role blends big‑picture thinking with hands‑on problem‑solving, sustaining the theatre’s artistic mission and fostering an environment where artists can do their best work.
Qualifications:
· 8 years of professional musical theatre producing, directing or design experience, and casting experience at a comparable venue, including work with both union and non-union actors, directors, and designers
· Deep knowledge of, familiarity with, and passion for the musical theatre canon and genre
· Proven experience leading casting processes in collaboration with both in-house and New York–based casting directors
· Extensive knowledge of current trends and artists within the musical theatre field
· Well-established relationships with agents, writers, directors, choreographers, designers, and producers across the industry
· Ability to read and evaluate scripts for both artistic quality and producibility
· Strong emotional intelligence with calm demeanor and excellent interpersonal and conflict-management skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and internet-based collaboration tools
· Passion for community building and developing local talent
· Ability to successfully manage multiple projects across varying timelines and departments simultaneously
