Security Officer – Part-Time (Unarmed)

About the Role
Red Line Security is seeking a dependable, professional Unarmed Security Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. This position is assigned to a commercial property in Grand Rapids, providing on-site security coverage during evening and weekend hours.
This is a low-supervision, single-officer role. The right candidate is a self-starter who takes pride in consistent, reliable attendance and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for tenants and visitors.
Schedule
Part-time | Site coverage hours vary by day:
Monday through Thursday: 4:45 PM to 11:30 PM
Friday: 3:45 PM to 11:30 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 7:45 AM to 11:30 PM
Coverage hours are shared among multiple guards assigned to the site. Individual shift assignments will be scheduled within these windows and will not require a single officer to cover the full daily hours.
Responsibilities
Patrol assigned areas of the building and property to deter and detect suspicious activity, respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and tenant concerns, prepare accurate incident reports and maintain detailed daily activity logs, enforce client site policies and ensure a safe and welcoming environment, collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency personnel when necessary, and provide professional customer service to tenants and visitors.
Qualifications
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. Additional requirements include a valid driver's license, successful completion of a background check and drug screening, strong observational skills and attention to detail, clear communication and sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to stand and patrol for extended periods.
Pay and Benefits
Starting pay is $17.00 per hour. This is a part-time position.
