Title: Juice Plant Supervisor
Location: Geneva, NY (On-site)
Reports to: General Manager
Salary: $65k - $80K

Job Summary: The Juice Plant Supervisor oversees daily production activities to ensure the efficient and safe manufacturing of high-quality juice products. The ideal candidate is a proactive and experienced leader with a strong understanding of food manufacturing, quality control, and safety regulations, including HACCP and GMPs. This role involves managing a production team, optimizing workflows, and ensuring that all production targets and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Production and Operations
- Safety: Lead and develop safety culture to support world class performance
- Supervise Daily Production: Coordinate and oversee all production activities, including scheduling staff, assigning tasks, and monitoring the juice processing, blending, and packaging lines.
- Optimize Efficiency: Monitor production processes to identify and resolve issues, reduce waste, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall productivity.
- Equipment Management: Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment. Coordinate with the maintenance team for regular preventative maintenance and immediate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and manage raw material and packaging inventory levels to prevent shortages and ensure smooth production flow.
- Continuous Improvement: Constantly evaluate processes and equipment for improvement. Create and drive a culture of continuous improvement, and implement best practices which align with world class operations.
Quality and Safety
- Ensure Product Quality: Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all products meet company specifications and taste standards.
- Uphold Safety Standards: Enforce strict adherence to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintain a Safe Environment: Promote and enforce a safety-first culture by conducting regular safety inspections and training employees on proper safety procedures.
Team Leadership and Development
- Mentor and Coach Staff: Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentorship to production line staff to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Training: Train new and existing employees in standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment usage, quality control, and safety protocols.
- Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations, evaluate employee performance, and address any disciplinary issues or employee relations concerns.
Reporting and Administration
- Prepare Reports: Maintain accurate production records and generate detailed daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production output, downtime, and quality metrics.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as quality assurance, procurement, and logistics, to optimize plant operations and resolve any cross-departmental issues.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment. Experience specifically in juice processing is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: Solid knowledge of food safety standards, including HACCP, GMPs, and regulatory compliance.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- The ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/ English) highly preferred.
Work Environment
- This is a full-time, hands-on position that requires working on a production floor.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and work in an environment with varying temperatures.
- The role may require flexibility to work alternate shifts, including evenings and weekends, based on production needs.
