Compensation Range: $103.48 – $136.92 / hour (Base)
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to perform internal fire protection-related assessments and observations. The specialist will analyze the results of both internal and external fire protection assessments, collaborating closely with Fire Protection Engineers (FPE), Design Authority Engineers (DAE), and Facility Operations personnel to resolve identified issues, gaps, and vulnerabilities within
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Extraction: Independently analyze, review, assess, and extract relevant information from assessments, program documents, procedures, and technical reports with little to no supervision.
- Database Administration: Support the development, maintenance, and administration of fire protection-related databases regarding S/RID and NFPA requirements, specifically utilizing systems like the Fire Protection Database System.
- Causal Analysis: Perform Causal Analyses using CST and other assessment-related sources to assist in effectively designing and implementing both root-cause-based remediation and proactive resolutions.
- Compliance & Program Support: Work alongside FPEs, DAEs, and Operations personnel to revise or develop procedures, update training protocols, and recommend implementation actions to support compliance with DOE-STD-1066-2012 and Site Manual 2Q.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- A Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in Business, Communications, Education, or Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of equivalent experience in project/technical support or document/configuration control within a nuclear or chemical facilities environment.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Systems Familiarity: Familiarity with electronic document control and configuration management systems (e.g., SRS Linking Document Database (LDD) or Fire Protection Database System (FPDS)).
- Regulatory Compliance: Prior experience with S/RID requirements (e.g., Safety Basis) implementation at SRS.
- Auditing & Analysis: Prior experience as a Quality Assurance (QA) auditor and formal Causal Analysis experience.
- Operations & Readiness: Completed Conduct of Operations training and prior experience with Operational Readiness Reviews (ORR) or comparable processes.
- Software: Fluent in the
