THE ROLE
The Senior Marine Technician leads complex diagnostics, maintenance operations, and fleet reliability across multiple locations in the Florida Keys, Turks & Caicos, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
This role is based in the Florida Keys with significant travel and supports consistency and performance across all operating markets—providing a unique opportunity to work across multiple Caribbean destinations while combining hands-on technical work with the experience of working in paradise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and repair inboard diesel engines across catamaran, ferry, and center console hull types
- Diagnose and repair outboard gasoline engines (primarily Yamaha, Mercury, and Suzuki platforms)
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, fluid services, impeller replacements, and zincs
- Troubleshoot and repair marine electrical systems, bilge systems, and instrumentation
- Conduct pre-season and post-season commissioning/decommissioning across fleet
- Coordinate parts procurement, maintain parts inventory logs, and manage vendor relationships on-site
- Support haul-out coordination and work with boatyard partners as needed
- Document all service work in maintenance logs; update fleet status reports daily
- Communicate proactively with on-site operations managers and coordinate with shore-based fleet management
- Maintain a safe, organized mobile work environment; comply with all OSHA and marine safety standards
- Respond to urgent vessel breakdowns and service calls during deployment windows
TRAVEL & DEPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- This role requires travel (~50%) across multiple locations
- Primary base: Key West
- Regular travel to:
- U.S. Virgin Islands
- Turks and Caicos
- Typical deployment structure may include rotational assignments (e.g., 2 weeks on-site / 1 week in base market) depending on operational needs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision across remote locations
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity; must be able to meet entry requirements for assigned international destinations
- Physically capable of working in marine environments (lifting 50 lbs, confined spaces, heat and humidity exposure)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience as a marine technician or diesel mechanic in a commercial or charter environment
- Demonstrated proficiency with inboard diesel systems (Yanmar, Volvo Penta, Cummins, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated proficiency with outboard gasoline engines (Yamaha, Mercury, Honda, Suzuki, or equivalent)
- Strong working knowledge of 12V/24V marine electrical systems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision across remote locations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ABYC Marine Technician certification (Diesel, Electrical, or Gasoline)
- Yamaha and/or Mercury factory-certified technician
- Experience with Axopar, Leopard, or similar catamaran/center console platforms
- Familiarity with FareHarbor, marine dispatch systems, or fleet tracking tools
- USCG Captain's License (OUPV or higher) a strong plus but not required
- Prior experience working with charter or resort-based marine operations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus given our operating environment

Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
