What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom & Choral Music Teacher - Preschool thru 5th Grade position at RED HILL LUTHERAN CHURCH?
Red Hill Lutheran School has an opening for the 2026-2027 school year for a full-time, salaried classroom music and choral position for grades Preschool-5 meeting with each grade level weekly(Choral) or twice weekly(classroom). This position would also lead a before school middle school choir twice weekly. The position requires collaboration with Theater Arts and Instrumental Music Teachers for school-wide performances throughout the school year. A weekly after-school Musical Theater class is also sometimes co-taught with the Theater Arts Teacher.

education: Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree preferred with emphasis in elementary music education, a subject matter field commonly taught in the elementary grades, or closely related field areas.
Certification Preferred: Possession of a California credential authorizing service as a teacher of elementary grade pupils.
experience: Preferred successful completion of student teaching at a recognized college or university or two years of regular full-time elementary classroom teaching experience. |
Knowledge of:
Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of elementary music pupils; child growth and development and behavior characteristics of the elementary child; educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to elementary music educational programming; behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures; socioeconomic and cultural background differences of the general school population.
Plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive teaching and instruction program for pupils in elementary and middle school music, or a combination of these grades; provide effective learning experiences for pupils from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and with varying mental, social and emotional levels; effectively assess the educational needs of pupils, and design, develop, and implement sound individualized educational plans; provide an attractive, inviting and stimulating learning environment; perform research and development activities pertaining to music curriculum and instruction programs, pilot projects, and innovative programs designed to enhance pupil educational opportunities and experiences; comply with the school’s customer service standards, as outlined in school policy.
