Red Hill Elementary is a small community elementary nestled in the mountains of Gypsum, CO serving PreK-5 grades. We are located approximately 30 minutes from the ski mountains of Vail and Beaver Creek. We are proud Bear Cubs at Red Hill Elementary.

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Principal provides comprehensive instructional and administrative leadership to ensure the effective operation of the school and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning. This role includes guiding instructional practices to increase student achievement, supervising and evaluating staff, and leading professional learning aligned with district curricula and initiatives. The Principal fosters positive relationships with families and community partners; oversees building operations, student activities, and student discipline; and ensures the development and implementation of school policies and procedures in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Develops, implements, and communicates the district and school mission and vision to foster shared ownership among staff, students, families, and the community.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of school practices and their impact on student achievement; identifies and implements research-based, innovative programs to improve outcomes.
  • Uses data and stakeholder input to address current challenges, anticipate future needs, and maintain awareness of school and community dynamics.
  • Recruits, selects, and retains highly qualified and effective staff in accordance with district procedures and school needs.
  • Ensures curriculum is implemented with fidelity, assessed consistently, and aligned to district and state standards.
  • Cultivates a positive, inclusive school climate that supports student and staff growth through strong relationships, visibility, and engagement.
  • Leverages feedback from accreditation, program reviews, surveys, and community input to strengthen instructional practices and leadership processes.
  • Leads and oversees Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to ensure collaboration, instructional alignment, professional growth, and achievement of short- and long-term goals.
  • Conducts regular formal and informal observations; provides timely, actionable feedback to support continuous improvement in instruction and performance.
  • Facilitates conflict resolution and supports positive, professional working relationships.
  • Engages families, community partners, and district staff to promote student success and respond to diverse needs.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors school improvement and PLC action plans aligned with the district’s strategic plan through analysis of student and school data.
  • Uses local, state, and national data sources to inform decision-making and ensure accurate district, state, and federal reporting.
  • Organizes and leads the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT); serves as the school’s instructional leader and holds teacher leaders accountable for coaching, planning, and collaboration.
  • Serves as an active member of the administrative team and participates in district, state, and national professional organizations and committees as appropriate.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of IEPs, 504 plans, ALPs, and other student support programs to meet identified needs.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the school budget to align resources with district and school priorities.
  • Supervises the maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, orderly learning environment.
  • Communicates student achievement progress and school performance to all stakeholders.
  • Designs and implements an effective master schedule aligned with district policies and instructional priorities.
  • Establishes, communicates, and enforces high expectations for students and staff; holds all stakeholders accountable for success.
  • Demonstrates reflective leadership by recognizing successes, addressing challenges, and continuously improving practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MA degree in Education or related field
  • Colorado Type D Certificate or Principal License
  • Relevant prior experience, including 5 years of successful teaching, administrative or equivalent leadership experience
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, models of instruction
  • Knowledge of Special Education and Second Language Acquisition regulations and strategies for services
