Brief Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a dynamic Senior Security Architect to support the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) with enterprise-level strategy, IT integration, and mission-critical planning in a high-tempo, classified environment. This role requires a seasoned leader with experience in IT governance, cybersecurity, and program execution—someone who can bridge the gap between technical delivery and strategic oversight, while ensuring team alignment and client satisfaction

Responsibilities

  • Works with the most senior members of the client organization to ensure that overall program and project direction, strategy and expectations are met
  • Possesses an understanding of DIA’s CIO mission and the impact of managerial practices
  • Perform data collection and interview senior staff
  • Facilitates discussions and analysis to inform the decision process
  • Offers expertise in the form of knowledge, specialty skills, experience, or creativity
  • Provides guidance on almost every aspect of DIA’s strategic objectives and goals as they relate to the CIO mission
  • Have a firm understanding of IC and DOD Risk Management Frameworks, continuous monitoring, risk scoring, and risk management experience
  • Act as a high-level designer, defining the framework of core design features and functions of the program objective to be implemented.
  • SME in one or more of the following specialties: cloud and systems architectures, security architecture, cloud applications and storage, high performance computing, and software development
  • Collaborate with network and system engineers to design, document, and deploy complex cybersecurity solutions for Wide Area Networks, cloud, data centers, and applications.
  • Work closely with innovative and savvy teammates to expand the existing service offerings with new tools and technologies
  • Automate and streamline operations and processes, and further the adoption of DevSecOps best practices
  • Translate customer requirements into formal agreements and plans to culminate in customer acceptance or results
  • Provide proposals to improve operation processes, DevOps, deployment checklists, cybersecurity best practices, pragmatic approaches to improving the architecture’s security posture, how to protect and secure legacy systems, etc.
  • Be capable of teaching others and explaining the why behind complicated technical decisions
  • Design, test, assess, and implement security solutions, such as a using next-generation firewalls or configuring a network-behavior anomaly detection tools.
  • Implement a complex set of nested, inherited, and compensating controls to protect critical devices.
  • Document cyber security controls as required by federal cybersecurity frameworks to include the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of information Assurance (IA) concepts, practices and procedures using established IC and Agency policies and standards to minimize and/or mitigate RMF security risks.
  • Perform penetration testing on new and existing network architecture.

Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with CI Poly (or ability to obtain a polygraph)
  • Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience
  • Education: Master’s degree in a related field

Travel Requirements

  • Travel will be required within Washington National Capital Region (NCR) on an as-needed basis for customer or corporate requirements.

Level Of Responsibility

  • Work includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment concerning matters of administrative/operational needs.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate within a team environment.
  • Ability to type, sitting or standing, to complete work functions for hours at a time; ability to move between sitting, standing and walking on a frequent basis.
  • This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week on site, Monday through Friday, within the contract hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
