Barn Assistant / Horse Care Team Member
Red Fern Riding Center is seeking an experienced horse person to join our horse care team. We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a professional barn environment, takes pride in caring for horses, and is dependable enough to work independently while contributing to a supportive team.
This position is ideal for someone who already has solid horse handling experience and wants to continue developing their horsemanship while caring for a herd of well-managed lesson horses.
Position Details
- Pay: $16.00 per hour
- Classification: Independent Contractor
- Location: 5063 Aiken Road, Simpsonville, KY 40067
Available Shifts
- Morning: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- Evening: 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Feed approximately 30 horses in both stalls and pasture settings.
- Turn horses out and bring them in according to the daily schedule.
- Check, clean, and refill water tanks and buckets.
- Prepare grain and feed for upcoming shifts.
- Monitor horses daily for signs of illness, injury, or discomfort and report concerns promptly.
- Help with stall cleaning and general barn maintenance as needed.
- Complete routine chores that keep the barn running efficiently.
Qualifications
Applicants should have previous hands-on horse experience and be confident handling horses safely.
Successful candidates will also have:
- Good horse sense and sound judgment
- A dependable work ethic
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to cleanliness and organization
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
