About the Opportunity:
We are hiring a Field Service Engineer to support advanced automated equipment operating in a live customer environment. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex machinery, solving problems in the field, and helping customers keep critical systems running reliably.
This position is ideal for a field service, automation, maintenance, controls, or electromechanical technician who is ready to take ownership of equipment performance, preventive maintenance, and customer-site service execution.
The role is based at a customer site in Independence, Wisconsin.
What You’ll Do
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting automated industrial systems at the customer site. You will work independently while collaborating with field operations, engineering, and remote technical support teams when needed.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on technical problem solver who can work independently in a customer-site environment. The right person will be comfortable diagnosing equipment issues, communicating professionally, and taking pride in keeping complex systems running.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, or supporting automated industrial equipment, production machinery, or electromechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to diagnose root cause and resolve most technical issues with limited supervision.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, or service procedures.
- Comfortable using laptops, diagnostic software, meters, hand tools, and reporting systems.
- Strong communication, documentation, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based or customer-site environment.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours, weekend, or holiday support rotations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent experience in electronics, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, automation, mechatronics, controls, robotics, or a related field.
- Experience with automated machinery, robotics, sensors, motors, drives, PLCs, HMIs, motion systems, machine vision, packaging equipment, material handling systems, food production equipment, agricultural technology, or industrial automation.
- Prior experience as a Field Service Engineer, Automation Technician, Maintenance Technician, Controls Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Robotics Technician, Commissioning Technician, or Industrial Service Technician.
