What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Technical Project Manager position at Red Dot Corporation?
Summary Description:
RedDOT Corporation, a 100% employee-owned company since 2000, is a leader in thermal management solutions for some of the world’s most demanding environments. Founded in Seattle in 1965, we’ve evolved into a dynamic, multi-site manufacturing and distribution organization with operations across the U.S. and India. Our products keep people and equipment performing at their best, wherever the job takes them.
At RedDOT, our success is powered by our people. We take pride in our legacy of performance, durability, and integrity—and in fostering a culture where every employee is valued like family. With strong momentum—improved quality, EBITDA growth, share price expansion, and reduced turnover—we’re transforming how we work, sharpening execution, and accelerating growth.
The Mission:
The Senior Technical Project Manager leads the portfolio of New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering programs at RedDOT’s global headquarters in Puyallup, WA. You are the operating rhythm behind how RedDOT moves ideas from concept to production—orchestrating cross-functional teams, driving accountability, and giving leadership the visibility they need to make confident decisions.
Beyond running individual programs, you will be the owner of the tools, dashboards, and review cadences that define how engineering work is tracked and communicated at RedDOT. You will champion process improvement across the PMO and ensure issues are surfaced early, solved at the root, and translated into durable changes in how we work.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
· NPD & NPI Program Leadership: Own the end-to-end execution of engineering programs across the NPD and NPI portfolio. Lead cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle—concept, design, prototype, validation, PPAP, and production launch—while managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and deliverables.
· Dashboard & Reporting Creation: Design, build, and maintain program-level and portfolio-level dashboards that give engineering leadership and executives clear, real-time visibility into status, risks, KPIs, and spend. Establish the single source of truth for how NPD/NPI progress is measured at RedDOT.
· Program & Executive Reviews: Run the operating cadence for program reviews, stage-gate reviews, and executive steering committees. Prepare materials, facilitate discussions, capture decisions and actions, and ensure follow-through. Translate technical detail into concise, leadership-ready narratives.
· Root Cause Analysis: When programs slip, or quality and engineering issues surface, lead disciplined root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D) with cross-functional teams. Drive corrective and preventive actions through to closure and verify their effectiveness.
· Process Improvement: Own the continuous improvement of RedDOT’s NPD/NPI processes, stage-gate framework, and PMO tooling. Identify friction, waste, and handoff gaps across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain, and drive lasting process changes.
· Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as the connective point between Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams. Remove roadblocks, escalate appropriately, and keep internal stakeholders accountable to commitments.
· Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify program risks, build mitigation plans, and maintain an active issue log. Ensure issues are visible to the right people at the right time—never surfaced too late.
PMO Standards & Best Practices: Contribute to the maturation of the PMO by developing templates, standards, and playbooks that raise the bar for project execution across RedDOT
