Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to troubleshoot, repair, service, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems for grocery, restaurant, industrial, and retail facilities. Ideal candidates have strong diagnostic skills, work independently in the field, and understand the urgency of commercial refrigeration service calls.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines, prep tables, display cases, and condensing units
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, evacuation, and leak detection
- Identify failures involving compressors, evaporators, condensers, TXV/EEV valves, and controls
- Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer manuals
- Communicate repair needs and recommendations clearly with customers
- Complete service reports, work orders, and parts documentation accurately
- Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory professionally
- Follow all safety procedures and EPA regulations
Required Qualifications
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required
- Experience with low- and medium-temperature refrigeration systems
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergency service calls
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 75 lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and in confined spaces
Preferred Experience & Certifications
- Experience with rack refrigeration systems
- Knowledge of EMS/BAS and refrigeration controls
- Ice machine manufacturer training (Scotsman, Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, etc.)
- Familiarity with CO₂ or A2L systems (if applicable)
- Journeyman or refrigeration license (state dependent)
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position
- On-call rotation required (after-hours, weekends, and holidays)
- Outdoor and indoor work in all weather conditions
