Gulf Electroquip is located in Houston, Texas, USA. We specialize in new, remanufactured and repaired AC and DC motors and generators for the oil & gas, dredging, paper, petrochemical, mining, utilities and transportation industries. Our power equipment can be engineered and manufactured to meet the specific needs of our clients. All our engineering is performed at our facility making sure that exact specifications are met.
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Quality Management System and supporting workplace safety initiatives. This role works closely with production, engineering, and operations to ensure products meet customer requirements, internal standards, and regulatory requirements while promoting a safe and organized work environment.
This position requires a hands-on individual who can work independently, audit processes, improve systems, train employees, and help drive continuous improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Quality Management
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, ISO 9001, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee inspection of incoming materials and finished products
- Manage calibration and inspection of monitoring and measuring equipment
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits
- Manage corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
- Conduct management review meetings and report QMS performance to leadership
- Develop and document processes, procedures, and quality standards
- Oversee vendor quality performance and supplier evaluations
- Represent the company during customer audits, surveys, and third-party inspections
- Assist with product recalls or quality-related investigations when necessary
- Train employees in quality standards and procedures
- Lead and support quality inspectors and technicians
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify process improvement opportunities
- Help standardize processes across departments
- Work with operations to improve efficiency, documentation, and workflow processes
- Support training programs and skills development for employees
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001
- Experience with audits, corrective actions, and process documentation
- Ability to write procedures, work instructions, and reports
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to analyze processes and recommend improvements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
