Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic, guest-focused Host / Barback to join our team. This hybrid role combines front-of-house hospitality with taproom support responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with guests while helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient operation.
As one of the first points of contact for our guests, you'll create a welcoming experience while also supporting bartenders and service staff through stocking, cleaning, bussing, and operational tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys teamwork, and takes pride in delivering exceptional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Hosting
- Greet guests with a friendly, welcoming, and helpful attitude.
- Check IDs when required and ensure compliance with all alcohol service regulations.
- Facilitate guest check-out of board games and assist with game-related inquiries.
- Answer phones and assist with guest questions, reservations, and messages.
- Assist with customer concerns and escalate issues to management when appropriate.
- Take food orders, process transactions, sell merchandise, and assist with point-of-sale operations.
- Serve as kitchen expo when needed, including paging guests for food pickup.
- Maintain strong knowledge of all beverages, food offerings, merchandise, events, and brewery offerings.
Barback & Taproom Support
- Support bartenders, managers, and service staff as needed throughout service.
- Bus, clean, and reset tables promptly.
- Wash, organize, and restock glassware.
- Change kegs accurately and efficiently.
- Stock beer, wine, liquor, supplies, and put away deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting taproom, patio, restrooms, and service areas.
- Assist with opening, closing, setup, and breakdown duties.
- Clean and restock restrooms regularly.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Complete additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of full-service restaurant, bar, brewery, or hospitality experience required.
- Experience in a bar, brewery, or sit-down restaurant strongly preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude with a strong team-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working in a busy, noisy, and highly active environment.
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from managers and teammates.
- Passion for craft beer, hospitality, and community engagement.
- Interest in board games and willingness to learn about our game library.
- Commitment to learning the basics of ASL.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Comfortable using digital scheduling, communication, and POS systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the facility during shifts.
Schedule & Availability
- Flexible availability required.
- Must be available nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Shifts may begin as early as 10:00 AM.
- Closing shifts may run until midnight on weekdays and as late as 3:00 AM on weekends.
- Open availability is strongly preferred.
Compensation
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience plus tips.
- Credit card tips paid on biweekly paychecks.
- Cash tips paid weekly.
