Description

The roll-off drivers’ responsibilities include Waste and Recycling collection, recovery and delivery services of heavy equipment within the area of the designated route. To perform collection of both commercial and residential refuse which includes, solid waste, corrugated, mixed recycling, and C&D materials. Provide general waste and recycling recovery operations.

As a commercial motor vehicle driver, you are required to adhere to all FMCSA and Department of Transportation regulations and guidelines for operating a CMV safely and in accordance with any/all Federal, State, local or tribal regulations and/or laws. You must observe and document reports on the vehicle, ensure that the debris stays in the container, tires are filled, and the vehicle is road operable. Strong communications are required as drivers are responsible for providing timely, accurate, and safe deliveries of recycled material, solid-waste and C&D items. Drivers provide excellent customer service by collaborating diligently and expeditiously with local dispatch teams.

This position is largely self-directed and requires an understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Drivers will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments. While performing the duties of this position, the driver will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, and internal and external temperature/weather conditions.

Essential Functions

  • Safely operate both stick and automatic cable and hook roll-off trucks. Drivers who posses a Class A license that can haul semi-trailer loads is an added plus for prospective candidate.
  • Comply with all Federal, State and local laws regulating safe driving and the safe and proper handling of waste/recyclable materials.
  • Immediately notify the dispatcher of malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions that need immediate action and follow up with the Terminal/Safety manager.
  • Transport debris to and from customer sites to receiving plants or dump sites.
  • Read gauges and meters while operating hydraulic pumps, air compressors and PTO shaft driven system.
  • Inspect vehicle for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Plan route and meet delivery schedules.
  • Document all logged work/rest periods and miles spent driving or on duty and retain all fuel/toll receipts, delivery receipts, VCR reports and any other pertinent documents pertaining to the order.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 23 years old
  • 3 years of current and verifiable driving experience
  • United States citizen OR proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must speak English and have knowledge of the English language with the ability to read and write.
  • No more than two (2) critical violations in the past three (3) years
  • No major accidents in the last five (5) years.
  • No DUIs in the last 10 years.
  • No alcohol- or drug-related convictions in any personal motor or commercial vehicle in the last five (5) years.
  • No drug possession convictions within the last five (5) years and only one (1) in a lifetime.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical exam and drug/alcohol test
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
