Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Truck Mechanic to join our team at Recycling Services of Florida. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of trucks to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics & Repair: Conduct thorough diagnoses of truck systems and components, including rear end loaders, roll-offs, tractors, and box trucks, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, and exhaust systems. Diagnose and repair forklifts, skid steers, wheel loaders.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on trucks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
  • Emergency Repairs: Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  • System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and troubleshoot problems with engines, electrical systems, and other truck components.
  • Parts & Inventory Management: Order and manage parts inventory for repairs and maintenance. Ensure accurate documentation of parts usage and stock levels.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise repair and maintenance records for all vehicles. Ensure compliance with safety inspections and regulations and complete truck overhauls- retired unit rebuilds.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Fleet and Site Manager and other team members to ensure all trucks are safe, roadworthy, and meet company standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to established safety protocols, follow proper repair procedures, and ensure all vehicles are compliant with DOT and company safety standards.
  • Fabrication & Welding: Perform fabrication and welding tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Required Experience: 5 years of experience as a truck mechanic or similar role, with expertise in diagnosing and repairing truck systems and components. Preferred experience in Mack trucks. Must be experienced in engines, transmissions, and electrical systems (ECM).
  • Required Skills:
  • Strong Knowledge: Strong knowledge of truck engines, transmission systems, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
  • Diagnostic Tools: Experience using diagnostic equipment and tools.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues independently and efficiently.
  • Welding: Proficiency in welding is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Welding or Fabrication Experience: Prior experience in welding or fabrication is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting Heavy Parts: Ability to lift heavy parts (up to 50 lbs) and work in tight spaces.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods.

Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, work overtime as required, or after-hours if needed for emergency repairs.

Safety Mindset: Strong commitment to safety protocols and adherence to DOT regulations.
