What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Product Manager (AI Startup) position at Recura AI?
We’re an AI startup building automated sales and communication tools for cash-based medical clinics. Our platform powers an AI receptionist that handles voice, SMS, scheduling, and payments, workflows that directly impact revenue.
We ship quickly and our engineers are strong. Features are often founder-driven and spec’d collaboratively with engineering. That model has worked well so far, but as the product surface area expands, coordination and clarity need to scale with it.
We’re hiring a Founding Product Manager to help bring structure, cohesion, and long-term thinking to the full platform.
As Founding PM, you’ll own the product across all initiatives.
You’ll work directly with the CTO and a team of 7 engineers to shape roadmap direction, ground features in real customer workflows, and ensure we’re building toward a coherent strategy.
This role is roughly half strategic and half execution. You’ll work with leadership to define priorities and long-term direction, while also writing detailed PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria in close collaboration with engineering and QA.
Your north star is Net Revenue Retention, driven by feature adoption and clarity in the customer journey.
- Own and maintain the company-wide roadmap across voice, messaging, scheduling, payments, and related initiatives.
- Make tradeoffs and bandwidth constraints visible before they become bottlenecks.
- Translate founder ideas and internal requests into structured, well-scoped product proposals.
- Write clear, detailed PRDs and partner with QA on acceptance criteria.
- Map end-to-end user journeys and identify gaps, inconsistencies, and edge cases.
- Conduct customer interviews and synthesize feedback into actionable direction.
- Research competitors and identify meaningful strategic opportunities.
- Install better internal communication loops so stakeholders understand:
> What is being built
> What has shipped
> Why decisions were made
- Prevent feature sprawl and ensure launches feel cohesive rather than fragmented.
- Track adoption and usage to ensure shipped features drive measurable value.
- 3 to 5 years of product management experience, ideally in a fast-moving startup.
- Experience owning meaningful product scope, not just contributing to isolated tickets.
- Strong written communication skills. You can structure ambiguity clearly.
- Comfort working in technically dense systems and reasoning about complex workflows.
- Ability to use modern tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, SQL) to understand product behavior at a practical level.
- Strong systems thinking. You naturally consider cross-feature interactions and long-term implications.
- Comfortable pushing back with clear reasoning.
- Bias toward clarity, documentation, and structured decision-making.
- Experience with AI or automation-heavy products.
- Experience building workflow-heavy B2B SaaS products.
- Exposure to communication systems, payments, or operational software.
- Experience tying product decisions directly to retention and adoption metrics.
- First Product Manager hire with full platform ownership.
- Direct collaboration with founders and engineering leadership.
- A technically deep product with real operational complexity.
- The opportunity to install product discipline at a critical growth stage.
