About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Technician – Cell Bank to support operations at a leading pharmaceutical partner’s site in Waltham, MA. This individual will be responsible for overseeing daily lab operations, supporting cell banking activities, and acting as the primary liaison between scientists, lab teams, and stakeholders.
This is a contract role ideal for someone with a strong foundation in GMP lab environments, cell banking processes, and team coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct benchtop support, including shipping, receiving, and quality control (QC) testing of cell lines
• Coordinate daily operations in the cell bank lab and assign tasks to the team
• Maintain accurate data tracking of banking and QC metrics
• Handle sample retrievals and prepare materials based on scientists' requests
• Ensure accurate data entry in tracking software, including updates to cell line recipes
• Support testing of new cryo storage units (e.g., automated Azenta cryo tanks) and coordinate sample transfers
• Serve as the single point of contact for all incoming cell bank-related requests
• Communicate clearly with the cell bank director, scientists, and other lab teams
• Train junior technicians and interns; support development within the team
• Work with the Lab Resource Coordinator to align cell bank efforts with larger-scale projects
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field preferred
• OR equivalent from a two-year technical school with relevant experience
• Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a cGMP-regulated lab or equivalent quality environment
• Familiarity with ISO standards and lab best practices
• Experience with MS Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Preferred Skills:
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience in cryo storage or automated storage systems is a plus
• Proven ability to train and guide team members
