This individual will be responsible for overseeing daily lab operations, supporting cell banking activities, and acting as the primary liaison between scientists, lab teams, and stakeholders.
This is a contract role ideal for someone with a strong foundation in GMP lab environments, cell banking processes, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct benchtop support, including shipping, receiving, and quality control (QC) testing of cell lines
- Coordinate daily operations in the cell bank lab and assign tasks to the team
- Maintain accurate data tracking of banking and QC metrics
- Handle sample retrievals and prepare materials based on scientists' requests
- Ensure accurate data entry in tracking software, including updates to cell line recipes
- Support testing of new cryo storage units (e.g., automated Azenta cryo tanks) and coordinate sample transfers
- Serve as the single point of contact for all incoming cell bank-related requests
- Communicate clearly with the cell bank director, scientists, and other lab teams
- Train junior technicians and interns; support development within the team
- Work with the Lab Resource Coordinator to align cell bank efforts with larger-scale projects
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field preferred
- OR equivalent from a two-year technical school with relevant experience
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a cGMP-regulated lab or equivalent quality environment
- Familiarity with ISO standards and lab best practices
- Experience with MS Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Preferred Skills:
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in cryo storage or automated storage systems is a plus
- Proven ability to train and guide team members
