What You Will Do
- Design and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using dbt, Airflow, SQL, and modern cloud data tooling
- Build clean, reusable analytical data models and semantic layers powering reporting and product analytics
- Architect warehouse schemas, transformations, and metrics systems optimized for performance and maintainability
- Create datasets that support student performance analysis, adaptive learning systems, and educational insights
- Build and improve slowly changing dimensional models handling school-year transitions and student movement across systems
- Improve deployment workflows, testing infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and data reliability practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, software engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and knowledge sharing initiatives
- Help shape long-term analytics engineering strategy and technical direction across the organization
Ideal Background
- 8 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or analytics engineering
- 5 years specifically focused on analytics engineering, data modeling, or modern ELT systems
- Deep expertise in SQL and dbt for production-grade transformation pipelines
- Strong experience with analytical data modeling and Kimball dimensional modeling principles
- Experience designing scalable ETL/ELT workflows and semantic data layers
- Strong understanding of warehouse technologies such as Snowflake and cloud storage systems
- Experience with orchestration and ingestion tools such as Airflow, Fivetran, and Matillion
- Familiarity with BI and semantic tooling including Looker, Tableau, or Cube.dev
- Strong Git, automation, CI/CD, and engineering workflow experience
- Excellent communication and mentorship abilities with experience leading technical initiatives
Preferred
- Fluency in Python or another programming language
- Familiarity with metadata management platforms such as Atlan
- Experience building business intelligence dashboards and reporting frameworks
- Experience within education technology or highly regulated data environments
- Passion for mentorship, teaching, and improving engineering culture
- Open-source contributions, side projects, or demonstrated technical curiosity
