Quality Assurance (QA) EngineerPosition Overview
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer ensures that all products, materials, and manufacturing processes meet Wistron’s high quality standards and customer expectations. In this role, you will oversee quality control across the production line, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and partner with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives, conduct root cause analyses, and implement effective corrective actions to maximize product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee quality control stages across production lines to ensure strict compliance with standards and specifications.
- Monitor First Pass Yield (FPY) daily, track overall yield rates, identify trends, and implement corrective actions across manufacturing plants.
- Work directly with QC inspectors to ensure inspection procedures are rigorous, effective, and standardized.
- Support general QC functions as an active, collaborative team member.
- Lead and update PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PMP (Process Management Plan) reports.
- Drive, track, and close 8D corrective actions for internal defects and customer issues.
- Conduct root cause analyses and facilitate team problem-solving meetings to eliminate recurring defect trends.
- Collaborate with design teams during new product development to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Respond promptly to customer complaints, executing fast and thorough resolutions to safeguard customer satisfaction.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to address defect drivers and boost overall line efficiency.
- Monitor key operational KPIs related to quality, efficiency, and productivity, driving targeted action plans to hit site goals.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in product engineering (design, development, testing, and manufacturing processes).
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity overseeing engineers or technicians.
- Deep understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management standards.
- Proficiency with Minitab and core quality tools (8D, PFMEA, SPC, Pareto analysis).
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and design specifications.
- Exceptional root cause analysis and problem-solving mindset.
- Solid data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Proven project management capabilities with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to drive quality initiatives across departments.
- Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent.
- Domain Experience: Background in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Final Assembly (FA) manufacturing.
- Methodologies: Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Environment: Split between a standard office environment and the active manufacturing floor.
- Physical Requirements: Standing and walking for extended periods during inspections; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
- Safety: Exposure to standard manufacturing noise and machinery (appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided).
