Associate Attorney - Estate Planning & Successions
Location: Metairie, LA and Covington, LA
Schedule: Hybrid between offices (3 days in Metairie, 2 days in Covington)
About the Opportunity
An established Estate Planning and Successions firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients on estate planning matters, trust administration, and succession proceedings from inception through completion. The ideal candidate is client-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping individuals and families plan for the future and navigate complex succession matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage succession cases from opening through final resolution, ensuring matters are handled efficiently and accurately.
- Meet with prospective and existing clients regarding estate planning needs, including wills, trusts, and succession matters.
- Advise clients on estate planning strategies and assist in the development of customized estate plans.
- Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related instruments.
- Administer trusts and assist trustees and beneficiaries throughout the trust administration process.
- Conduct signing conferences and execute estate planning documents with clients.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients, providing exceptional service and guidance throughout the legal process.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure timely progression of matters and compliance with applicable laws and procedures.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Louisiana.
- Experience in estate planning, successions/probate, trust administration, or related practice areas preferred.
- Strong drafting, organizational, and client communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to providing outstanding client service.
