Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care. This role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, managing complex medical conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Kipu is essential. The Nurse Practitioner will also be involved in medical documentation, diagnostic evaluation, medication administration, and patient education within outpatient and inpatient settings. Candidates with specialized skills in areas like botulinum toxin treatment, esthetic laser treatment, or telehealth are encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and neonatal care
- Manage acute and chronic conditions such as pain management, infectious disease care, behavioral health issues, and post-acute care planning
- Perform procedures including suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, tube feeding management, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and sterile processing techniques
- Administer injections and medications accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient record management
- Collaborate with specialists in areas such as gastroenterology, ophthalmology, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), and anesthesiology for diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning
- Provide telehealth consultations utilizing telehealth platforms to expand access to care
- Assist in discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and working within hospital medicine or outpatient clinics
- Manage airway via ventilator support or airway management techniques in critical settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers
- Educate patients on health coaching topics including nutrition, medication adherence, family planning, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s), and memory care
Qualifications
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with current certification in relevant specialties
- Proven experience in emergency medicine (ER), ICU (Level II or Level I Trauma Center), hospital medicine, or outpatient clinics
- Expertise in procedures such as suturing, IV infusion/insertion, catheterization (including spinal tap), gastrostomy tube management, and sterile technique
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner (HCAHPS standards), Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks; familiarity with CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is preferred
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to primary care and specialized fields like cardiology or ophthalmology
- Experience working with diverse populations including assisted living residents, hospice & palliative patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized nursing care
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations involving laboratory experience or medical imaging; familiarity with infection control protocols is essential
- Excellent communication skills for patient education on complex topics such as psychopharmacology or infection prevention strategies
- Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality
