What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker Aide for Residential Program position at Recovery Place, Inc.?
At Recovery Place we assist individuals seeking recovery in a residential environment. Under general supervision monitors clients seeking treatment for substance use disorder in a residential setting. This is a 24 hour and 7 day a week residential facility. SWA’s observe, document appropriately, and report resident behaviors on a regular basis throughout the day and night. In addition, they transport residents to medical and other appointments, to and from group sessions, and accompany the residents on therapeutic outings with clinical staff. SWA’s observe in the self-administration of medications and document appropriately what they observed. When not engaged in the above duties, clerical or light housekeeping duties will be assigned. A current Georgia driver’s license and ability to pass background checks are required.
Client Monitoring
1. Monitor blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, pulse rate, temperature, and other vital signs of clients in Social Detox
2. Performs UDS on clients as needed
3. Observe client taking medication and record appropriately
4. Documents residents scheduled and unscheduled activities while the residents are on or off of the unit. Appropriate forms adhering to established protocols will be used
Observation documentation and other administrative functions
1. Uses observational skills to monitor residents’ behavior during assigned shift and properly charts these incidents in accordance with protocols learned during orientation
2. Intervenes and diffuses potentially harmful resident situations according to established therapeutic techniques and guidelines
3. Reports disruptive or inappropriate behavior to appropriate clinical staff in a timely manner and in written form on progress notes, incident reports, etc.
4. Documents resident’s activities as well as progress toward goals and objectives on appropriate forms adhering to established protocols
5. Completes shift change report in communication log
6. Timely and clinically sound accurate compilation of patient information
General Duties
1. Assists staff with resident’s admission procedures and orients residents to facility, rules, regulations, and program expectations
2. Conducts an inventory of personal items brought in upon admission and documents same for resident’s chart. Reports contraband not allowed on site
3. During quiet moments, uses time constructively by being pro-active by finishing clerical duties or light housekeeping which needs to be done, by answering the telephone, taking messages, making copies, running errands for supervisor or clinical staff that pertains to business functions, etc.
4. Clean and or sterilize all medical equipment at the end of each shift
5. Inventories medical and other supplies and report to Program Manager and/or RN of replenishment needs
6. Provides Childcare where applicable and adheres to the appropriate guidelines established by the State of Georgia for childcare workers
Provides Transportation
1. Operates state vehicles safely by following all safety laws and procedures according to the State of Georgia and established Company regulations
2. Maintains a current Georgia driver’s license, free of infractions
3. Ensure that all passengers are using proper safety equipment (i.e. seat belts) and that children have and use age-appropriate safety equipment
4. Responsible for adhering to rules concerning music and radios not being played on vehicles
5. Responsible for policing and cleaning the van during their shift of driving. No food or drink allowed on the van, including driver
6. Inspects First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguisher monthly and enters information into Vehicle Safety Log
7. Maintains accurate log indicating who is transported and where they are transported, mileage and times
8. Documents travel in state vehicle by accurately completing appropriate travel forms within specified time frames and forwards to appropriate staff according to protocol learned during orientation
9. Documents repairs or refueling of vehicles in the same manner
