Social Media Content Creator

Recovery Movement Consulting
Jordan, UT Contractor
POSTED ON 9/17/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/14/2027

Recovery Movement Consulting is seeking a creative, social-media-savvy Social Media Content Creator to help build a distinctive and engaging digital brand across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms.

This is a Utah-based independent contractor position focused on short-form video, social media storytelling, graphics, and creative content development.

RMC is a national behavioral health and nonprofit consulting firm that helps organizations secure funding, build strong programs, collect meaningful data, manage complex grants, and communicate their impact.

We want to take that expertise and make it approachable, memorable, useful, and human.

A major part of our social media strategy will incorporate the founder’s animals—including dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits—into creative educational content. The animals may provide humor, personality, or the visual hook, while the underlying content teaches nonprofit leaders about grants, storytelling, data, leadership, sustainability, recovery, and organizational capacity.

We are not looking for someone who simply waits for instructions.

The ideal candidate understands social media culture, follows current trends, recognizes what makes people stop scrolling, and brings their own creative ideas to the table. RMC’s founder will provide subject-matter expertise, stories, ideas, and overall brand direction; this contractor should be able to help turn those ideas into engaging content and also bring original concepts of their own.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help develop and execute RMC’s social media content strategy.
  • Film and edit short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
  • Participate in approximately one scheduled 1–2 hour filming session each week at RMC’s home-based business location in the Salt Lake Valley.
  • Help direct filming sessions, including framing, lighting, pacing, delivery, hooks, and identifying when a take should be redone.
  • Film primarily using a high-quality smartphone or similar equipment.
  • Assist with basic lighting and filming setup to improve the quality of content.
  • Capture multiple pieces of content during each filming session for use throughout the week and month.
  • Produce approximately 2–3 finished content pieces per week.
  • Expected monthly output will generally include approximately 8–12 short-form videos and 4–8 supporting graphics, carousels, or social posts.
  • Monitor current social media trends, formats, hooks, audio, editing styles, and platform culture.
  • Identify trends that can be adapted appropriately for RMC’s professional brand.
  • Help turn topics such as grants, nonprofit management, data, storytelling, behavioral health, recovery, leadership, and funding into clear and engaging short-form content.
  • Develop recurring content concepts and series that help make RMC recognizable.
  • Incorporate RMC’s animals naturally into appropriate content.
  • Edit videos, including captions, audio, transitions, pacing, graphics, and platform-specific formatting.
  • Develop social media graphics and other visual content as needed.
  • Repurpose content across platforms while adapting it appropriately for each audience.
  • Assist with captions, messaging, calls to action, and light content planning.
  • Review engagement and performance to help identify which types of content are working.
  • Research other grant consulting, nonprofit consulting, behavioral health, and professional-services brands to identify opportunities for RMC to stand out.
  • Bring creative ideas and recommendations rather than relying solely on assigned concepts.

The Brand We Want to Build

RMC wants to make nonprofit education more useful, relatable, and memorable.

Our content may address topics such as:

  • Grant-writing and funding tips.
  • What funders actually want to know.
  • How nonprofits can tell better human stories.
  • Why meaningful data matters.
  • Common grant and reporting mistakes.
  • Federal grant management and compliance.
  • Building sustainable nonprofit systems.
  • Behavioral health and recovery organizations.
  • Leadership and organizational capacity.
  • Responsible use of AI in nonprofit work.
  • Staying human in an increasingly automated world.
  • Lessons from real-world nonprofit and recovery work.

The goal is not to turn RMC into a pet account.

The animals are part of the personality and visual storytelling of the brand. The substance remains professional, useful information that helps nonprofit leaders build stronger organizations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and short-form digital content.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and edit engaging short-form video.
  • Understanding of social media hooks, pacing, storytelling, trends, and platform culture.
  • Strong creative instincts and willingness to contribute original ideas.
  • Ability to take a broad concept and independently turn it into finished content.
  • Comfortable providing creative direction during filming.
  • Able to suggest stronger hooks, better framing, improved delivery, or a different visual approach when needed.
  • Comfortable filming primarily on a smartphone or similar equipment.
  • Basic understanding of lighting, sound, framing, and visual composition.
  • Experience with video-editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Canva, or similar platforms.
  • Experience creating professional social media graphics or visual content.
  • Strong written communication and caption-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Access to appropriate equipment and software for producing high-quality social content.
  • Must live in Utah and be able to travel to the Salt Lake Valley for weekly filming sessions.

A college degree is not required. We care much more about creativity, demonstrated ability, reliability, and your portfolio.

Animal Environment

Filming will take place in a home-based business environment where multiple companion animals live.

Dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits are present in the home.

Applicants must be genuinely comfortable working around all of these animals and should consider whether animal allergies would make the environment unsuitable for them.

The animals may also appear in and participate in content, so patience, calmness, and comfort working creatively around animals are important.

Ideal Candidate

This opportunity may be especially well suited for an emerging content creator, freelancer, college student, recent graduate, UGC creator, or early-career social media professional who has strong natural instincts for digital content and wants to help build a brand from the ground up.

Experience working with nonprofits, behavioral health organizations, recovery organizations, or professional-services companies is helpful but not required.

We can teach the nonprofit and grant content.

What is harder to teach is curiosity, creative judgment, storytelling instinct, humor, timing, and an understanding of what makes digital content engaging.

We are looking for someone who brings their own creative brain to the work.

Contract Structure & Schedule

This is an independent contractor position expected to average approximately 15–25 hours per month, with 15-25 hours per month as the maximum anticipated workload under the starting scope.

The contractor will generally participate in one collaboratively scheduled 1–2 hour filming session each week at RMC’s home-based business location in the Salt Lake Valley.

Outside of scheduled filming sessions, the contractor may complete editing, graphics, research, caption development, and other production work according to their own schedule.

The contractor will be responsible for consistently producing agreed-upon content and meeting established deadlines.

The exact mix of work may vary from month to month depending on content performance, filming needs, trends, and RMC priorities.

Location

This position is limited to Utah-based applicants because regular in-person filming is required.

Filming will occur in the Salt Lake Valley.

Other work may be completed remotely.

Compensation

Compensation is $600 per month.

This monthly contractor fee reflects an expected workload of approximately 15–25 hours per month, with 25 hours as the maximum anticipated monthly workload under the starting scope.

The scope and compensation may be reviewed as RMC’s social media presence grows or if the expected volume of content increases.

This is an independent contractor position and does not include employee benefits.

Application Requirements

Applicants should submit:

  • A current résumé.
  • A brief introduction or cover letter explaining their interest in the role.
  • Links to 3–5 examples of short-form videos, Reels, TikToks, UGC, graphics, or other digital content they personally created or substantially produced.
  • A brief description of their role in producing the submitted examples.

Formal agency experience is not required. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate that they understand how to create content people actually want to watch.

Pay: $600.00 per month
