Position: Behavioral Health Technician I
Job Type: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Shift Details: Shift Days - 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Work Location: Crisis - Restart - West Glenn
Salary/Hourly Wage: $18.00 - $19.50/hour

Summary of Job: The Behavioral Health Technician I (BHT I) acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of individuals served by providing empathic, active listening skills, case management and support services in order to maximize the opportunity to create recovery partnerships and a recovery environment. The BHT I also transport individuals to access community resources, as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Guest Care & Advocacy:
- Connects with new participants, on site or while the participant is incarcerated or hospitalized, to obtain referral information and necessary solutions.
- Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
- Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose).
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Assesses emergency situations, notifies supervisor of actual or potential challenges, exercises judgment in stressful conditions and responds calmly and quickly.
- Completes clinical documentation as required.
- Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
- Cross Functional Collaboration:
- Develops and maintains community resources for education, information and referrals appropriate to participant’s needs.
- Additional Duties:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Education/Licenses:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Ability to document per regulatory guidelines.
- Skills:
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to pass de-escalation training, as defined by state requirements.
- Driving Requirements:
- If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
- If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
- Miscellaneous Requirement(s):
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
- Travel required based on business need.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.

- Must be able to obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states.
- Must be able to pass education verification check.
- Must be able to pass three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier (if driving is required for this position).
A Direct Service Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.
Physical Demands:
May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Work Environment
May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.
Warmline over-the-phone Peer Support Specialist will work in a remotely and not be in an office or behavioral health facility.
