Location: Orange County, 7912 Forest City Road, Orlando, FL.


Position Summary:

As a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) within Recovery Connections of Central Florida, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and effective support to individuals on their journey to recovery from substance use disorders and related mental health challenges. Utilizing your lived experience and professional training, you will engage with participants offering encouragement, empathy, and practical guidance to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their recovery goals.


Responsibilities:

1. Provide Peer Support: Establish and maintain trusting relationships with individuals in recovery, offering emotional support, active listening, and guidance based on your personal experiences and professional training.

2. Recovery Planning: Collaborate with participants to develop personalized recovery plans, identifying strengths, needs, and goals, and assisting with the implementation of strategies to enhance overall recovery.

3. Resource Connection: Educate individuals about available community resources, such as housing, employment, healthcare, and social services, and assist in accessing these resources as needed.

4. Peer Advocacy: Serve as a supportive advocate for participants, assisting them in navigating various systems, including healthcare, legal, and social support, to ensure their needs are met and their rights are respected.

5. Crisis Intervention: Recognize and respond appropriately to individuals experiencing crisis situations, providing immediate support and connecting them with appropriate emergency services.

6. General Computer Skills: Utilize computer systems and software to complete daily tasks efficiently, maintain accurate digital records and documentation, operate standard office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), manage email communication using platforms like Microsoft Outlook, perform data entry and ensure accuracy in database and troubleshoot basic technical issues and escalate when necessary.

7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of participant interactions, progress, and outcomes, adhering to all organizational and regulatory requirements.

8. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about current best practices in the field of recovery support services, attending training courses and seeking professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.

9. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the Recovery Connections team, including clinicians, counselors, and case managers, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to client care.


Qualifications:

- Certification: Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) certification in the State of Florida.

- Lived Experience: Have personal lived experience with substance use disorder recovery and demonstrated ability to navigate the recovery process successfully.

- Empathy and Compassion: Show genuine empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals seeking recovery, promoting a safe and supportive environment.

- Excellent Communication: Possess exceptional communication and active listening skills, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

- Knowledge of Recovery Support: Familiarity with evidence-based recovery support practices, recovery-oriented systems of care, and principles of harm reduction.

- Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate documentation.

- Flexibility: Adaptability to work in a dynamic and mobile environment, including evenings, weekends, and occasional on-call availability.

- Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
