- Prepare and cook appetizing and well-balanced evening meals for our residents, ensuring that all dietary requirements and restrictions are taken into consideration.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes to maintain consistent meal quality and portion control.
- Coordinate with the dietary team to plan menus that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to ensure a well-stocked and efficient kitchen.
- Collaborate with the dietary staff to provide input and suggestions for menu improvements and enhancements.
- Communicate and work effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and seamless operation.
- Exhibit a compassionate and courteous attitude towards residents and their families, fostering a warm and welcoming dining experience.
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices and adherence to food safety regulations.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, prepare meals according to dietary guidelines, and accommodate special dietary needs.
- Strong organizational skills to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and healthcare professionals.
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional schedule changes or special events.
- High school diploma or equivalent; 18 years of age.
- Culinary training or certification is a plus but not mandatory.
- Two years as a cook in a large-scale cooking operation, preferred.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a busy kitchen environment.
