Overview
The Field Director, Medical Affairs will be a field-based professional who will serve as a manager for the relevant therapeutic area MSL team and will directly manage a territory. The Field Director will supervise, mentor, develop MSLs, assist in hiring, and facilitate the development of collaborative relationships with opinion leaders. The Field Director will facilitate field-facing activities including the exchange of unbiased scientific information between the medical community and the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for field medical activities related to the company's products and pipeline, including facilitation and management of advisory boards and scientific congresses.
- Provides medical expertise and guidance for medical affairs. Ensures the MSL team has sufficient knowledge and information regarding the organization's products and therapeutic areas to be effective in the field.
- Provides management, coaching and support to field MSL during ‘field rides’ on MSL effectiveness in scientific communication and KOL relationship building.
- Directs the medical team’s input and authorship of concise, unbiased, and accurate medical information about the company’s products to support safe product use among the scientific / medical community and customers.
- Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with key medical experts in relevant therapeutic areas and may function as a player-coach with own territory.
- Coordinates the medical response to unsolicited medical information requests directed to the MSL team.
- Collaborates with physicians on key medical affairs initiatives, including providing publication assistance, medical support for speaker presentations, and medical references when requested.
- Provides guidance and leadership in the identification and management of internal and external materials in conjunction with the associate scientific director and director of MA, including the development and review of professional slide decks, medical letters, and clinical summaries.

This position is field-based, near major airport. The position requires extensive domestic travel (approximately 60-70%); occasional international travel.
