The incumbent is expected to perform duties that involve standing, walking, climbing, running, sitting, kneeling, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, carrying, lifting, and driving. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and able to wear protective equipment as needed to perform the job.

Summary of Description: The Technician will work under the supervision of an assigned specific discipline and based on experience the individual evaluates, selects, and applies standard applicable techniques. Could include discipline work of purchasing, expediting, NDT Inspection, project controls, surveying, laser scanning, schedulers, planner, construction inspectors, project coordinators, automation, controls, etc.
Duties

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Complete routine lab testing analyses in a timely manner.
- Pursue certification for government testing methods, if applicable.
- During special testing projects will be expected to work overtime.
- Must be able to offer lab coverage during vacation or illness relief.
- Run truck and barge samples as required after completing the unit sets.
- Post testing results on the computer from written report then print and distribute.
- Pursue repeat samples and/or testing for any out of spec value.
- Communicate with Operations regarding the product specifications.
- Prepare standards for the following days analyses as needed.
- Maintain lab housekeeping.
- Maintain lab equipment, glassware and sample glassware.
- Attend and participate in safety meetings.
- Attend external seminars and training sessions associated with job responsibilities, if necessary.
- Stay current with all required training.
- Assist the Lab Supervisor on projects as needed.
- Special testing as needed over and above the normal work schedule.
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years experience in Laboratory analyses procedures and equipment use; and / or two or four year college degree in a science or science related field.
- Physically capable and willing to accept the associated work and responsibility.
- Flexible regarding work schedule and hours.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Cooperative and able to work well with associates and outside personnel.

- Assists assigned supervisor in various aspects of projects assigned.
- Applying standard discipline techniques to make minor adaptations and modifications.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
- Detailed working knowledge of Policies and Procedures related to project work.
- Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
- Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
- Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
- Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
- Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
- Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
