Duties
- Diagnose and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Install new HVAC equipment following design specifications and schematics, ensuring proper operation and safety compliance.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) systems to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems such as condensate drainage and refrigerant piping connections.
- Use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical components and ensure system integrity.
- Repair appliances and mechanical components including welding tasks on ductwork or metal parts as needed.
- Maintain detailed service reports, logs, and documentation of all repairs, installations, and inspections for compliance purposes.
- Operate a
driver vehicle safely for on-site visits or equipment transportation. - Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems to support overall building operations.
- Follow safety protocols during all field service activities while adhering to environmental standards such as ammonia refrigeration handling.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician with a solid understanding of HVAC design principles and schematics interpretation.
- Construction background or hands-on experience in mechanical systems installation or repair preferred.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing plumbing, boiler operation, appliance repair, welding, and general equipment repair.
- Field service experience with a focus on property maintenance or appliance troubleshooting.
- Ability to read technical schematics accurately and utilize diagnostic tools like ohmmeters effectively.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and document work thoroughly.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating a
driver vehicle required. - Certifications in HVAC/R or related fields are advantageous; ongoing training encouraged to stay current with industry standards.
