Die Setter - 3rd Shift (Powder Metal Specialist)Location: North Vernon, IN Salary: $33.00 per hour (Includes shift differential) Job Type: 6-month Contract-to-Hire Shift: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Die Setter to join our automotive manufacturing team. You will be responsible for the assembly, setup, and troubleshooting of specialized tooling into heavy industrial presses. This role is critical to our quality control process, requiring constant inspection of compacted parts to ensure they meet exact dimensions and density specifications. Safety and precision are our top priorities in this high-volume production environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Tooling Installation: Assemble, set up, and troubleshoot die cavities, upper and lower punches, and core rods into the press.
- Press Operation & Adjustment: Operate and calibrate press settings, including pressure, compaction speed, and dwell time to achieve desired part density.
- Quality Control: Inspect parts for dimensions, weight, and density using micrometers, hardness testers, and CMM equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve malfunctions or defects during the compaction process or delube oven; implement immediate solutions to minimize scrap.
- Maintenance & Documentation: Maintain accurate production records (quantity, scrap, adjustments) and perform daily 5S activities to keep the shop floor organized.
Requirements (Must-Haves):
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in the automotive or metal manufacturing industry.
- Mandatory Expertise: Proven experience in Powder Metal compacting.
- Technical Knowledge: Must be familiar with the Cincinnati 550-ton press.
- Skills: Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Drafting: Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Flexibility: Must be shift-flexible, including weekends as required.
Pay: $33.00 per hour
