Job Summary
As the Director of Accounting and Finance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial landscape of our non-profit organization. You will lead a dynamic team, overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, budgeting, and strategic planning. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
- Manage the expense reporting process, including the corporate credit card program.
- Monitor the collections and billing status of financial obligations and agreements.
- Prepare company monthly P&L reports as well as job P&L reports.
- Assist with monthly cash flow reporting.
- Lead financial audits.
- Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives.
- Establish accounting policies and procedures, aligned with company targets.
- Handle escalated customer issues and requests.
- Conduct Accounts Payable functions for the organization.
- Manage the payment process.
- Handle annual 1099 reporting for vendors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other laws and regulations.
- Train accounting staff on department procedures, software, and GAAP.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for accounting staff.
- Ensure the accounting team has the tools they need to be successful.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 10 years work experience in the accounting field; 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask; outstanding verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficiency using accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks).
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, GAAP and other laws and regulations.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive files and information.
- Skill in problem-solving and setting priorities to manage varying workloads
