Key ResponsibilitiesHIV/STD Testing & Clinical Support
- Assist with HIV and STD testing services, including specimen collection and preparation
- Perform phlebotomy procedures and other specimen collection processes following infection control protocols
- Prepare patients for examinations, screenings, and follow-up visits
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
- Assist the Nurse Practitioner during examinations and clinical procedures as needed
- Provide patient education regarding testing procedures, treatment plans, prevention strategies, and follow-up care
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient care activities
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable healthcare regulations
Patient Intake & Care Coordination
- Assist with intake and registration of new patients and renewal patients
- Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and medical information accurately within the EHR system
- Coordinate patient documentation and required forms prior to provider visits
- Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and referrals as directed by the Nurse Practitioner
- Collaborate with the Nurse Practitioner to ensure continuity of care and timely patient follow-up
- Support patients with questions related to services, eligibility, and treatment resources
Front Office & Administrative Duties
- Greet patients professionally and maintain a welcoming, respectful, and confidential environment
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct patients appropriately
- Maintain accurate documentation and records within the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Assist with insurance verification, authorizations, and eligibility checks when necessary
- Support clinic workflow and operational efficiency through effective communication and teamwork
Required Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
- Experience with phlebotomy and specimen collection preferred
- Knowledge of HIV/STD testing procedures and patient confidentiality standards preferred
- Experience with patient intake, scheduling, and front office operations
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion in sensitive patient interactions
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Experience working in community health, primary care, behavioral health, or infectious disease settings
- Strong understanding of patient-centered care practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams
- Bilingual skills are a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
