Production Scheduler: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules to ensure efficient, on-time manufacturing operations. This role balances customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and operational priorities to support company delivery and performance objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules based on customer orders, production capacity, inventory levels, and business priorities.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Quality, Engineering, and Shipping departments to ensure materials, labor, and resources are available to support production schedules.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changing customer requirements, material shortages, equipment downtime, and other operational constraints.
- Prioritize and sequence work orders to maximize efficiency while meeting customer delivery commitments.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding production schedules, order status, estimated completion dates, and delivery timelines.
- Analyze production workflows, capacity utilization, and scheduling data to identify bottlenecks, improve throughput, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production planning data within the ERP/MRP system, including work order status, scheduling updates, and production priorities.
- Track schedule attainment and production performance, identifying risks to customer delivery dates and escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Participate in weekly production meetings and communicate schedule priorities, constraints, and changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to production schedules, schedule changes, customer communications, and production performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production planning, scheduling processes, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2β5 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, supply chain coordination, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business software applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience communicating directly with customers regarding production schedules, order status, and delivery commitments.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory management principles, and production planning methodologies.
