POSITION TITLE: Construction Rehab - Housing Rehabilitation Specialist

REPORTS TO: President & CEO

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Coordinates work details of all project aspects of our grant to client funding model for home repairs and modifications. Assessing clients, creating work scope, coordinating with contractors, completing projects to match our grant funding.

LOCATION: Remote with in Northeast Ohio (Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark County) – with regular in-person staff meetings – occasional on site-events. Daily travel to clients is required (75 percent of travel is within Cleveland, Akron, Canton area).

KEY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS:

  • Coordinate and deliver third-party contracts for assessments.
  • Complete 25-pt assessment on all houses deemed eligible for our government/company funding grants. COA, AFHIP, USDA, and others as contracted.
  • Define project scope of work, objectives, coordinating with program clients, contractors and staff.
  • Open communication with all clients, contractors and staff to move programs and projects forward.
  • Contractor management: assess the need for additional contractors, recruit & vet as necessary.
  • Assist in the planning, scope of work, ordering of materials and day of work for company volunteer events, including on-site the day of event (including Saturdays if necessary).
  • Identify, communicate and problem solve issues in the field.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope of work and potential conflicts to create contingency plans where necessary.
  • Oversee, track and report on project milestones, including contractor progress to ensure completion in a timely manner.
  • Oversee contractor bids in conjunction with scope of work, materials and final approval of work.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable sustainable building standards and safety regulations/guidelines.
  • Build, develop and grow all business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Develop, and utilize best practices in program and project management.
  • Complete all paperwork/pictures for project – initial and final.
  • Assist with managing client expectations, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Keep all material and tools properly stored and used with minimal waste.
  • Assist in identifying clients for special projects.
  • Assist in coordinating volunteers for projects, including addressing volunteer requests, day of coordination and work with Office Manager and Program Coordinator regarding designated work.
  • Network and collaborate with community partners to secure future projects.
  • Other program and project duties as deemed necessary.

STAFF MANAGEMENT:

  • Participate in regular staff meetings and/or communications as deemed necessary.
  • Support RTNEO Staff to ensure that paperwork is completed in an appropriate time frame.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 plus years of overall professional experience; experience with construction, home repairs and modifications and home safety and accessibility work.
  • Experience with Housing Development/Scope of Work writing and software.
  • Familiar with building codes & permitting requirements for Ohio, (Ex: EPA, HUD lead standards.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Rebuilding Together.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, significant attention to detail and follow-through, ability to work on multiple tasks in a growing and changing environment.
  • Strong problem solver with attention to developing and improving systems to improve RTNEO.
  • Background in non-profit, community development, volunteers and grant programs preferred.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Flexible and react positively to project changes, demand and timelines while problem solving.
  • A customer service mentality is a must.
  • Comfortable with people, strong communication skills and the ability to lead volunteer work groups.
  • Competent in MS Office products, and software.
  • Required High School Graduate or GED. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management or another related field preferred.
  • Additional training/certifications in OHSA, Building Codes, Lead Abatement, Home Inspection is a plus.
  • Physically able to do perform some work on job site, ability to lift 50-80 lbs.
  • Must pass a background check and have valid Ohio’s Driver’s License – must be insurable.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
