What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hand Therapy Aide position at Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery?
The Hand Therapy Aide is responsible for assisting various levels of personnel in their related clinical activities, which includes set-ups for patients, transportation, assisting in splint fabrication and routine therapeutic techniques. The Hand Therapy Aide also maintains inventory of department equipment, linen and supplies, assists with general clean-up, performs patient scheduling and other receptionist/clerical duties as needed by the department. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians.
Responsibilities:

- Administer routine patient treatment and care to patients of various ages under direct supervision of the Hand Therapist.
- Monitor patient's reaction to therapy and report significant changes or developments to therapist.
- Escort patients to treatment as needed.
- Assist in general department maintenance by performing light housekeeping tasks on a frequent basis.
- Change linen in patient treatment areas per department procedure.
- Perform scheduled cleaning and maintenance of department equipment and supplies per department procedures.
- Order therapy supplies and maintain inventory of equipment and linen.
- Coordinate with Providers, Hand Therapists, reception and clinical staff for patient scheduling. Call patients as necessary.
- Perform a variety of other receptionist and general clerical duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Keep informed of health care issues, changing department procedures and other department information by attending staff meetings and/or reading staff meeting minutes, e-mails and newsletters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Completion of high school, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
- BLS certified.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Physical/Occupational Therapy office experience highly desired.
- Strong interest in occupational therapy, physical therapy/health professions as a career preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete Rebound Physical Therapy Department training program within two months of employment.
- Effective organizational and problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. Ability to prioritize in a climate of changing needs and distractions.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Frequent lifting; Must be able to lift, move or assist patients weighing up to 300 pounds or more with help of other staff members using proper body mechanics.
- Frequent carrying of 20-30 pounds for distances of 100-200 feet.
- Frequent pushing/pulling, bending, crouching, crawling, squatting, getting in awkward positions and stair-climbing.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range for staff and patient safety.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

This position will work 2-3 days a week, Monday - Friday. No weekends or holidays.
This is a temporary position, anticipated to work through August 2026. Hours will be as needed up to 24 hours per week.
