The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is the leading voice for New York City’s real estate industry. We’re looking for an experienced media leader to join us as Vice President of Media Relations, a key role that will shape how REBNY’s voice is heard across the media landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of a proactive media strategy that aligns with REBNY’s goals and priorities.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on messaging, media engagement, and crisis communications.
- Serve as a visible spokesperson, representing REBNY’s positions clearly and effectively across national, regional, and trade media.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with journalists, editors, and producers.
- Identify and pitch stories, op-eds, and interviews that highlight REBNY’s leadership and policy perspectives.
- Oversee the development of press materials including releases, advisories, talking points, briefings, industry reports, and statements.
- Respond to media inquiries with clarity, timeliness, and professionalism.
- Track industry news and trends to inform messaging and identify opportunities.
- Manage relationships with outside agencies and consultants as needed.
- Handle all press and media aspects of REBNY events.
- Develop strategic partnerships with media and other organizations to advance strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (master’s preferred).
- At least 15 years of experience in media relations or corporate communications with measurable success.
- 8 years of senior leadership experience, ideally in a trade association, nonprofit, or public affairs setting.
- Established relationships with industry media.
- Advanced writing and public speaking skills, with the ability to make complex issues clear and compelling.
- Strong strategic thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive and high-profile matters with confidence.

Salary : $170,000 - $175,000
