Role Description The Assistant Editor role at REBEL is a full-time hybrid position based in Los Angeles, CA, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day tasks include organizing and logging footage, assembling rough cuts, syncing audio, and preparing sequences for lead editors. The Assistant Editor will manage media assets, maintain project files, and ensure version control and backups are consistently up to date. This role supports editors and producers by preparing deliverables, exporting formats for review, and incorporating feedback into updated cuts. The Assistant Editor will also collaborate with the creative team to help maintain a consistent visual style and uphold quality standards across projects.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with non-linear editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools).
  • Experience with media management, including organizing assets, maintaining project structures, and performing basic file troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail in reviewing cuts, checking continuity, and ensuring accuracy of subtitles, graphics, and audio.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with editors, producers, and other team members, responding constructively to feedback and deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of basic post-production workflows, including transcoding, exporting, and delivering files in multiple formats.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes and share project updates clearly.
  • Capacity to work independently, manage time well in a hybrid environment, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Relevant experience in film, television, digital media, or a related creative field; a degree or equivalent training in media, film, or communications is beneficial.
