About the Role:
We are seeking a highly creative Fabric R&D and Design Assistant to help drive
innovation and material exploration across the brand. This role partners closely with
Design and Production to manage the sourcing and execution of fabric and trim that is
consistent with the company’s vision and brand strategy.
R&D Responsibilities:
-Research initial fabric and trim sourcing concepts
-Send fabric/trim concept requests to factories/mills and track the requests accordingly
-Collect and manage FDS from factories/mills
-Create and update airtable from proto through production stage regarding style
information as well as sample/fabric status updates
-Responsible for requesting and tracking all lab dips/strike offs, fabric submits and trim
submits from proto through production stage
-Send fabric and trim color and quality comments to factories/mills from proto through
production
-Place fabric orders at proto and SMS stage and track accordingly to ensure mills and
factories stay on calendar
-Set up apparel magic at market for Joor linesheet upload
-Management of bulk BOMs in excel, send to factories when complete
-Maintain seasonal fabric binders as well as organize the fabric library
Design Development Responsibilities:
-Assist with initial development TP set up in Excel
-Assist with flat sketching and CADing when necessary
-Assist with sample organization at proto and market stage including checking in
samples, steaming, sewing, and buying fabric and trim locally as needed
-Attend production fittings to update bulk BOMs and airtable as needed
-Assist in preparing and presenting designs during internal and external design reviews
Qualifications & Skills:
-BFA/BS in Fashion Design or equivalent, textile major/minor a huge plus
-Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Suite
-Airtable & Apparel Magic knowledge a plus
-Experience in apparel construction, fit development, fabric selection, and trims
-Strong sense of color, print, and textile design
-Highly organized with excellent time management skills to manage multiple projects
and meet deadlines
-Strong communication and presentation skills to collaborate across teams and with
external partner
