Position Summary
REAMCO LLC is seeking a results-driven Process Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Harpersville, Alabama. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement across our production operations. The Process Engineer will work cross-functionally with Design, Sales, and Production to evaluate and optimize how work flows through the facility from equipment performance to overall process efficiency while championing LEAN practices and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain value stream maps (VSMs) of current-state processes to identify waste, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluate production equipment and machine performance to identify upgrades, adjustments, or maintenance strategies that improve process flow and throughput.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and process feasibility are considered early in product development.
- Partner with Sales and Scheduling to provide process-related input on capacity, feasibility, and timelines for custom or engineered-to-order switchgear projects.
- Work closely with Production teams to implement process changes, standard work, and layout improvements on the shop floor.
- Establish, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, throughput, and machine performance.
- Lead and/or support Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for process deviations, equipment failures, quality issues, or schedule disruptions, and drive implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
- Implement and champion LEAN manufacturing principles and tools (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, etc.) across the facility.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement projects, tracking measurable impact on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Develop justification for process performance and improvement initiatives.
- Support training of production staff on new or improved processes and standard work.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Four (4) years of proven experience as a Process Engineer or in a similar continuous improvement role, ideally within electrical equipment, switchgear, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing value stream maps and applying LEAN methodologies in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to establish and interpret KPIs to drive decisions
- Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis using structured problem-solving methods (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, etc.).
- Working knowledge of production equipment, machine performance evaluation, and process flow optimization.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Design, Sales, Production, and Leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with process mapping, CAD, or data visualization tools a plus.
- LEAN Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred but not required.
