Pharmacy Technician
The pharmacy technician position is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures.

Responsibilities of the Call Center Pharmacy Technician
Receive prescription by phone, fax, computer, or mail. Verifies that all the information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
- Examine medical records
- Enter data in computer system, recording all the prescriptions, requisition, and disbursements.
- Contacts referring physicians’ offices with questions concerning prescriptions or refill request.
- Performs general clerical duties such as answering phones.
- Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control.
- Maintain inventory of medications, supplies, and equipment
- Manage bill collection process.
- Record, track, and explain billing information
- Attends and participates in pharmacy meetings to exchange ideas to achieve goals of the department.
- Assist in keeping procedures up to date in pharmacy manuals to train new personnel and to have quick references to specific jobs so they are performed per the policies of the department.
- Ensure compliance with all licensure and federal, state, and local laws and regulations; observe the Pharmacy’s policies on “best practices”.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist.
- Assist in resolving client concerns.
- Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a health care setting. This position requires frequent standing and walking to storage shelves and filling counters to fill prescriptions.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities are required by this job including close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and see distinctions in colors and shapes is also required. This position is moderately active and requires standing and walking for the duration of the shift. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
1.Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
2.Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or obtain within 2 years of employment.
3.Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy
4.Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
5. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for dispensing of prescriptions
