Role Description The Volunteer Coordinator (PT) is a part-time in-person role based in San Diego, CA. This role oversees the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and retention of volunteers who support Reality Changers’ programs and events. Day-to-day tasks include organizing volunteer orientations and trainings, maintaining accurate volunteer records, and coordinating communication with volunteers to ensure they are informed and engaged. The Volunteer Coordinator will collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs, support community outreach efforts to build partnerships, and help recognize and appreciate volunteers for their contributions. This position also involves tracking volunteer hours, preparing reports, and ensuring that volunteer activities align with organizational policies and program goals.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Volunteer recruitment and training, including coordinating, supporting, and retaining diverse volunteer groups.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build relationships with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Background in Community Outreach, with the ability to engage local organizations, schools, and stakeholders to support volunteer recruitment and collaboration.
- Organizational and administrative skills, including data entry, scheduling, and maintaining accurate records in volunteer management systems.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing program needs.
- Commitment to educational equity and supporting first-generation college-bound youth; experience in youth-serving or nonprofit settings is preferred.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Google Workspace or Microsoft Office) and comfort learning new digital tools.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as education, social work, communications, or nonprofit management) or equivalent relevant experience.
