Gig Harbor, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/11/2026

Director of Operations

ABOUT REALCRAFT
RealCraft builds solid wood doors the way they were meant to be built — by hand, by skilled craftspeople, in Gig Harbor, Washington. Every door that leaves our shop is a reflection of that standard. We sell direct to consumers across the United States and Canada, and we are the only DTC source for solid wood carriage doors and solid wood bifolding garage doors in the country. We invest in the craft, in our people, and in the client experience because that is what the work demands.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a Director of Operations to build the structure, visibility, and accountability needed for RealCraft to scale successfully without losing the craftsmanship, quality, and culture that set us apart. This is not a role focused on maintaining the status quo—it is a leadership role focused on building, improving, and strengthening our operational foundation.

As Director of Operations, you will own the end-to-end execution of our production and delivery process, ensuring projects move efficiently from material procurement to final shipment. You will create the systems, metrics, and communication channels that drive predictable performance, enable informed decision-making, and support continued growth.

You will serve as a key operational partner to the President & CEO, providing accurate, timely, and actionable insights while proactively identifying risks, resolving challenges, and driving accountability across teams.

If you are energized by building high-performing operations, solving complex challenges, aligning people around clear goals, and creating a culture of accountability and trust, this role was built for you.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Floor Oversight
  • Own production scheduling, throughput, and floor efficiency across all active orders
  • Supervise the Shop Manager, Purchasing and Inventory Lead, and Project Manager
  • Define and track daily and weekly production metrics; hold the team to clear, measurable expectations
  • Monitor and address labor hour efficiency across production
  • Identify and address inefficiencies before they become client-facing problems
  • Maintain a consistent presence on the floor; earn the team's trust
Supply Chain & Risk Management
  • Monitor material availability, lead times, and vendor reliability in real time — well in advance of production windows
  • Establish regular check-ins to identify scheduling outliers and supply risks before they affect output
  • Partner with the Purchasing & Inventory Lead to resolve supply constraints proactively
  • Surface supply chain risk early in the process
Cross-Departmental Communication
  • Serve as the operational connective tissue between production, sales, customer excellence, and design
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager to strengthen communication between sales commitments and production capacity
  • Establish and enforce clear escalation protocols so critical information moves fast and accurately
  • Represent operations in leadership meetings; arrive with data, leave with alignment
  • Bring a customer-forward mindset to every operational decision — delivery performance is a client experience issue, not just a production metric
People & Performance
  • Own hiring, disciplinary action, and termination decisions for production and warehouse staff, in close partnership with the Shop Manager and People Operations
  • Oversee performance management and coaching of direct reports and shop leadership
  • Build a culture of accountability, clear expectations, and continuous improvement on the floor
Reporting & CEO Support
  • Deliver weekly operational reporting to the President & CEO — clear, data-driven, and decision-ready
  • Translate floor-level realities into executive-level insight
  • Support the CEO in forecasting, capacity planning, and strategic operational decisions
Client Delivery Performance
  • Track and report on delivery performance against client commitments
  • Work with sales and customer excellence to ensure realistic timelines are set and met
  • When timelines are at risk, own the escalation — early, clearly, and with a plan
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required
  • 3 years of operations leadership experience in a manufacturing, custom production, or craft-driven environment
  • Proven track record of building or strengthening operational systems — scheduling, reporting, escalation, and accountability
  • Strong communicator: direct, clear, and equally effective with floor staff and executive leadership
  • Data fluency: you track what matters, surface it clearly, and use it to make decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop people
  • High ownership mentality
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in millwork, cabinetry, custom woodworking, or a similarly craft-driven manufacturing environment
  • Comfort with supply chain risk management and vendor relationship oversight
  • Experience working directly with a founder or owner-led company
  • Familiarity with production management software (Trello, Excel)
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Salary: $115,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience
  • On-site position based in Gig Harbor, WA
  • Health insurance, matching IRA, paid time off, and holiday pay, including an extended paid break during the Christmas holiday.
