RealClearPolitics Social & Multimedia Intern  

RealClearPolitics (RCP) is an independent, non-partisan media company that is a trusted source for the best news, analysis and commentary. For 25 years, RealClearPolitics has covered all aspects of the U.S. political process including policy, elections and government. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join our Washington, DC team as a part-time Social & Multimedia Intern (20 hours/week). The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the areas below, but training will be provided. A strong interest in politics, history, and government is required. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Premiere Pro, a plus! 

Schedule & Pay: 20 hours/week at $20 hour 

Location: Must be able to commute to our Washington, DC office 

Term: October-December, with the possibility of extending into 2026 

RCP Social: 

• Video & audio graphic design for posts. 
• Creating thumbnails. 
• Write engaging captions and pull compelling quotes for posts. 
• Market research for trending hashtags and topics relevant to RealClearPolitics’ audience. 
• Clip highlights from podcasts, interviews, or longer videos for use as short-form content (Reels, Shorts, TikTok). 
• Collect and organize images, graphics, and video assets in Google Drive/Content library. 
• Research competitor accounts to track what’s effective in political/media spaces. 
• Brainstorm creative campaign ideas (polls, Q&As, trending audio, collaborations). 
• Monitor and report on RCP content performance across all channels.  

RCP Podcast: 

• Editing podcast -- full show, individual segments, short clips, social media-length clips. 
• Graphics – intros, outros, lower-third graphics and chyrons, adding photos or clips into video, thumbnails customized for different settings (Twitter vs. insta vs. Facebook vs. YouTube vs. RCP). 
• Highlight reels – 30-90 second clips for social media, platform optimization for different ones. 
• Repurposing Content: Turn videos or quotes into blog posts or infographic-style images to use on social media, highlight reels, or mashup videos edited to include comments from podcast things they’re discussing. 

RCP Video: 

• Media monitoring/research – Watch or read transcripts of hearings, interviews, podcasts, etc. to ID potentially interesting things. 
• Transcript support – Use various methods to create accurate transcripts and quotes of the above. 
• Video editing – clips and highlight compilations of above. 
• Same Highlight reels and Repurposing ideas as above. 
• Post creation - combine video, transcripts and research to create posts. 
• Social media sharing/optimization.
