What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Electrical Engineer position at Real Time Recruitment Solutions (RTRS)?
Senior Electrical Engineer (Founding Team) | Industrial IoT & Wearables
Location: Hybrid Remote (Dallas/Plano, TX Area)
Work Style: Flexible Remote with occasional on-site requirements for board bring-up and lab testing.
Tech Stack: OrCAD/Allegro, STM32, BLE/LTE-M, Battery Management.
The Opportunity
We are an innovative, stealth-mode startup developing mission-critical wearable environmental sensors designed to protect lives in the world’s most hazardous environments, including oil rigs, mines, and industrial sites.
You won't be joining a group of strangers. You will be joining a founding team of engineers who have worked together for over 20 years, successfully moving through multiple high-growth ventures. This is an opportunity to own the hardware roadmap for a life-saving product from V1 through global certification.
The Role
As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be the "hardware anchor" of the team. You will lead the design, layout, and validation of high-density, low-power PCBAs that must survive extreme conditions.
- Full-Lifecycle Design: Own the hardware from initial schematic capture and component selection to high-density PCB layout and production.
- Wireless Integration: Implement and optimize communication stacks including BLE, LTE-M, Wi-Fi, and GNSS.
- Power Mastery: Design ultra-low-power battery management systems (BMS) for long-duration wearable use.
- Safety & Certification: Lead the design efforts to meet Intrinsically Safe (IS), ATEX, and IECEx standards for hazardous environments.
- Rapid Prototyping: Conduct physical board bring-up, debugging, and EMI/EMC troubleshooting in our local lab.
Technical Requirements (The "Must-Haves")
- Tooling: Professional-level proficiency in Cadence OrCAD & Allegro is non-negotiable for library and legacy compatibility.
- Experience: 10 years of hardware design experience, ideally within wearables, IoT, or industrial sensing.
- Microcontrollers: Expert-level knowledge of the STM32 (Cortex M0/M3/M4) family and ARM-based architectures.
- Wireless Heritage: A proven track record of board-level RF integration and antenna tuning.
- Environment: Experience designing for Hazardous Locations or mission-critical safety standards (IEC 60601, ISO 26262, or IEC 60079).
Why Join Us?
- Founding Equity: Competitive compensation plus significant equity in a venture-backed startup.
- Stability & Pedigree: Work with an elite group of "proven" engineers who have a 20-year history of success.
- Mission-Driven: Build a product that provides real-time safety and location tracking for workers in high-danger zones.
- Hybrid Flexibility: We value output over "desk time." Work from home most days, but stay close enough to the Dallas/Plano hub to collaborate on-site when the hardware is on the bench.
