As a an Accounting Associate, you will be responsible for managing all accounting functions related to a designated portfolio of properties. You’ll drive financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while providing leadership to a team of accounting assistants. Your work will provide high level support to our property managers and asset management team.
Key Responsibilities
Your Role As An Accounting Associate
As a an Accounting Associate, you will be responsible for managing all accounting functions related to a designated portfolio of properties. You’ll drive financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while providing leadership to a team of accounting assistants. Your work will provide high level support to our property managers and asset management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
- Oversee and approve accounts payable, avoiding late fees or penalties.
- Manage accounts receivable, including posting receipts, tracking delinquent accounts, and overseeing accounts being sent to collections.
- Execute utility billing with accuracy and timeliness.
- Record lease renewals, terminations, and modifications.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including property tax filings and audits.
- Lead and mentor accounting assistants, ensuring continuous improvement in accuracy and productivity.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Provide responsive financial support to property managers.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
- Strong accounting experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory compliance.
