Responsibilities
- Install, test, and repair telecommunication cables, including fiber optic and copper cabling, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Perform fiber splicing with precision to establish high-quality optical connections for data transmission.
- Set up and configure network hardware such as Cisco routers, switches, and Ethernet components to support robust network infrastructures.
- Conduct field service visits to troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and upgrade existing systems in various locations.
- Use hand tools and electrical testing devices like ohmmeters to diagnose electrical problems and verify system integrity.
- Assist in the installation of low voltage systems including telephony, Ethernet networks, and other telecommunication services.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed, including cabling layouts, test results, and service reports while adhering to safety protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience in cable installation, fiber splicing, and network setup with a strong understanding of computer networking principles.
- Hands-on knowledge of telecommunication systems including telephony and Ethernet wiring standards.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers and switches for configuring enterprise-grade network solutions.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate hand tools efficiently in various field environments.
- Prior service technician experience working on telecommunication or electrical systems is highly desirable.
- Strong electrical knowledge including low voltage wiring practices and troubleshooting electrical issues using testing equipment like ohmmeters.
