CDL Class A Driver

We pay time and a half after 40 hours. We expect 50 hours but there may be exceptions to that based on bad weather or we often allow drivers to work under 50 hours if they are excessively tired, need time off, emergencies. We think of this as a family environment where everyone receives consideration for events in their lives. Drivers are averaging about 45 hrs per week. If it's excessively rainy or for a number of other reasons drivers and staff are offered optional work days that don't count against their unpaid time off. In very bad weather events our company has often awarded extra PTO days as a goodwill notion to employees.

Salary estimate $65,000-$85,000.

New driver will accompany five other full time drivers we currently have on staff. You will deliver turf grass to local neighborhoods and developments. You will have to learn to drive a Moffett forklift and we will pay you to train. The max distance you will travel is rarely 70 miles from our location, often less than 30 miles to the drop.

Company pays ten days PTO and six holiday days. Employees are allowed ten (10) days of UTO- unpaid time off, in addition to PTO as they may need more time than off than we pay for. In circumstances like emergencies, pregnancies, planned vacations, ect we will allow whatever the employee needs in terms of time off, every situation is unique so it's hard to have a distinct policy on all situations.

Summary

As a CDL Class A Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods across various locations while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires core skills in truck driving and commercial driving, with a focus on operating tractor-trailers. Your premium skills in handling manual transmissions and specialized trailers, such as refrigerated and flatbed, will enhance your effectiveness. Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A license. Without 1 year of experience drivers must work at $20 per hour for first three months without approval for extra raises. We have found the drivers without one year experience are incredibly risky and need substantial training. Untrained drivers have costed us tens of thousands of dollars within their first few months if they can even make it that far. New drivers are treated like they have never even been inside a truck. We usually will not have time to consider new drivers with less than three months driving.
• Ability to drive a stick shift 10 speed. We do not have automatic transmission.
• Proven experience in truck driving and commercial driving
• Proficiency in operating tractor-trailers.
• Experience with flatbeds and box curtain trailers
• Ability to load and unload freight safely
• Familiarity with delivery driving and relevant equipment, such as forklifts and dump trucks
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in transportation and an overall familiarity with our local deliveries.
