Job description
The Quality Control (QC) Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products meet the required quality and safety standards in compliance with SQF and USDA regulations. This role involves performing routine inspections, testing, and monitoring of production processes to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control Monitoring:
Perform regular inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with SQF and USDA standards.
Conduct routine microbiological, chemical, and physical testing of products and materials.
Monitor production processes and perform quality checks at various stages to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately record and maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and other quality control activities.
Prepare and submit reports on quality control findings to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Document and report any deviations, non-conformances, or quality issues, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all quality control activities comply with SQF, USDA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
Assist in maintaining the facility's SQF certification by adhering to established quality and safety protocols.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
Equipment and Calibration:
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and function correctly.
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of testing equipment according to established protocols.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in quality control processes and suggest changes to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize quality control procedures and reduce waste.
Training and Collaboration:
Assist in training production staff in quality control standards and procedures.
Collaborate with production, sanitation, and other departments to ensure a unified approach to quality and safety.
Sample Collection and Analysis:
Collect samples from various stages of production for testing and analysis.
Conduct sensory evaluations and other tests to verify product quality and consistency.
Problem-Solving:
Investigate quality issues and non-conformances, working with the QA team to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Provide timely feedback to production teams regarding quality issues and corrective measures.
