We are seeking a full-time Chemical Operator to join our growing team in our Newcomerstown, OH location. This position is on 1st shift requires 40 hours a week, with possible over time, floating shifts, and weekend coverage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transfer hazardous chemicals from tanks, railcars, trucks to other vessels and be able to operate both manual and automated systems.
  • Document inventories on computer programs such as Microsoft excel, word, outlook, and communicate same by e-mail or network.
  • Inspects tanks, pipes, valves and control systems and submits report indicating condition.
  • Monitor the condition of the terminal yard and equipment to report conditions.
  • Handles equipment and hazardous materials in a manner as not to compromise ISO, DOT and EPA regulations.
  • Must be accountable for personal safety, the safety of coworkers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Must learn and retain process knowledge of the facility and process changes to site to enable effective operation and detection of unusual process conditions; uses knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to co-workers and management.
  • Must have good mathematical skills.
  • Must provide personal leadership in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations, and work performance as they relate to our key focus areas which include the following: safety, the environment, maintenance, and quality and reliability.
  • Have experience with lined pipe and valve installation. Order materials needed for the facility from our approved vendor list.
  • Maintenance experience in an industrial setting relating to metering systems, and electrical components.
  • Take ownership of the facility to ensure product transportation and storage results are satisfied and to ensure the site is maintained in proper operating condition.
  • Records data readings, utilizes plant data control systems, and observes process conditions on a continual basis to maintain good control of the facility.
  • Places systems in a safe condition for maintenance work, performing maintenance activities and will communicate the status to the facility manager and coworkers.
  • Provide ideas, raise concerns, and work with other functions including pipeline management, engineering, and maintenance to improve individual and unit performance.
  • May participate on dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the workplace environment.
  • Evaluates the facility's operating status and perform troubleshooting of process and equipment in order to ensure integrity of the pipelines and storage systems, and the timely, accurate product shipping documents, and certificates of analysis to drivers for customer deliveries.

  • Unloading of hydrochloric acid –Tractor Trailer & Railcar
  • Plant maintenance
  • Lab analysis
  • Shuttle wagon operation for moving railcars

  • The chemical operator must listen to sounds of running engine and trailer, pumps, compressors and pressures vessels to detect possible faulty condition and/or operation.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and lift above shoulder level, twist torso; climb to heights on a ladder to 32 feet, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear product movement in loading and unloading systems.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and often lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
